Today is Tuesday!

Today is tuesday and i've declared it random fact day!
Tuesday is after all, the worst day of the week, might as well try to make it interesting.

Anyways, here are 10 facts about me that you might not have known

10. I have been a vegetarian since birth. I have no plans on ever eating meat. It doesn't appeal to me at all. And no i'm not allergic (people ask the funniest questions)

9. My middle name is Sky. That's why I'm going by Javin Sky Photography. My real last name is Gulbin. And my other middle name is Harrington (my dad's last name.)

8. I've lived in 4 states and have been in almost all 50 but have never left the country.

7. I played the Sims 3 with Coco today. Then we ate ravioli with my parents.

6. I play the clarinet in marching band. Here's a link to our show. I'm the awkwardly tall one that leads onto the 50 in the beginning ;)

5. My favorite food is probably pizza. I could eat it for the rest of my life

4. As of this weekend i officially have Asian relatives. WOO!

3. Speaking of such things, i wish i was latino. I think i would be so much more attractive.

2. Today some girl i didn't know came up to me and said my photos were amazing. It made my day even though i haven't been feeling good :D

1. Two of my aunts are the same age as me and they are more like sisters. I love them to death. They were also the ones (along with my cousin) who were models for my rez photoshoot over the summer.

And now since it's random fact day, i think it would be fitting to present a random photo i took. It's my newest one so check it out!

And thank you to everyone who reads this. It means alot!

Oh and look at my flickr please! http://www.flickr.com/photos/javinhg/

Stop and Think

There are 3 things i realized i hate today.

1. Restarting my computer because it takes forever and i've had to do it 7 times in the past 2 days.

2. When people change their default on facebook or myspace and don't give the photographer credit. Then everyone always comments on how good they look and don't mention the person who took it.

3. When people lie for no reason. For some reason society seems to have produced so many people that lie about everything just because they can. Or people that talk shit and don't own up to it.

Anyways, i think this picture is fairly relevant to number 3, because you can always tell someone's true motives in the eyes.

Ranting and Raving :D

Today i can't decide whether it was a good day or a bad day. I woke up exhausted and i was feeling that weird rush of energy all day that you get when your sleep deprived which of course has led to me crashing now. So basically i was jittery and tired at the same time all day. I also didn't want to go to school because i had a dream that i didn't go to school today and in THAT dream i had a dream about not going to school.
ANYWAYS,
I had film photography today which i was really excited about because i had two rolls of film to develop from New York this weekend. That is literally what got me out of bed. But ofcourse i managed to forget the first roll at home which was definitely the better one. Also my prints from last class got ruined because no one bothered to squeegee mine even though people went to squeegee their own and i was under the impression whoever goes to do it does all of them, because that's what i was doing. Apparently not.

But the worst part of my day revolved around this particular photograph.
I would like to make this clear,
I TOOK THIS.
Apparently people are claiming that this picture is "too good to be mine" and that you can't possibly get a picture like that from cigarette smoke. This is true, you can't. It's photoshopped. It does after all spell out the word "Smoke". Normally that doesn't happen when smoking a cigarette. Further more, it was taken against a black door outside the highschool for people who still don't beleive it's mine. Also, to prove my point, here is the original photo. Clearly different. Strangely enough this seems to be one of my most popular photographs even though i actually just did it because i was bored. How ironic. I was also accused of the photograph at the bottom of this page, (the girls jumping off the wall), to also not be mine. On the left is my aunt Eileen, and on the right is my cousin Colleen. Trust me, it's mine.

So after that whole incident i was in a bad mood and complaining to everyone and felt like i was going to punch someone. (I'm not a violent person at all by the way. I'm actually very nice.) But i was very annoyed with everyone and everything, but luckily my day was saved after school when talking to my friends April and Em. We all had an amazing rant about life and were able to vent about everything. If i hadn't talked to them this post probably would have been alot longer :)
Anyways, that's muh day. Hope you enjoyed hearing me complain :D

P.s. I will NEVER post a photo on here that isn't mine unless i specifically say so!

First post :)

Hey everyone who might be reading this,
So clearly i just made a blog; my first blog, so i'm not quite sure what to write about. So i might as well start with the basics
My name is Javin (Pronounced JAY-VIN) and i love photography. I only got into it about a year ago but i already know that it's what i want to do with my life. I'm a Junior in high school so pretty soon i will start applying to art schools which I'm really excited about. I mainly like pictures of people, and in ways that are unusual. (Like the picture to the right)
Studio portraits that are straight ahead bore me and i generally try to be more creative than that.
And most of the pictures i post on here will be on my Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/javinhg/
So any comments and views are greatly appreciated.

My current project for school is a crime scenes type of thing which i started around last week. So here are a few shots for that over here. My mom thinks i should shoot something more positive. And now my step-grandma thinks im fixated on death. But i think that there is beauty in death and that it's an interesting concept.
That's why i'm shooting these pictures not because i'm a creep. I'd like to make that clear. And besides my photo teacher likes them :) And i suppose that's part of photography, not everyone is going to like your work and not everyone is going to like your ideas. But i'm okay with that, it's just part of the job ;)

Oh and in photography unrelated news, my marching band went to Micca Finals today which is a band compititon and we got a silver medal, even though we all know we deserved gold. I play the clarinet by the way, and yeah, i'll post a link to that whenever i find a video of it.
That's it for today,
going to eat soy mac and cheese and watch 30 rock with my mom. (i'm really cool obviously)
